The Returns & Inventory Clerk is responsible for accurately and efficiently managing the receiving, sorting, evaluation, and processing of customer returned products in alignment with Returned Material Authorizations (RMA). Reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Supply Chain, this role plays a crucial part in collaborating with customer service, production, and quality teams to ensure timely disposition of returns and maintain inventory accuracy through cycle-counting activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Examine incoming products against Return Materials Authorizations (RMA) to verify items.
  • Investigate and resolve unidentified customer returns using package data and other information.
  • Inspect returned products for defects, categorize based on date codes, quality issues, and material types, and take appropriate disposition actions.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and delivery of physical products to ops department leads.
  • Maintain accountability for all inventory transactions related to the returns process, resolving discrepancies through thorough research and corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts as directed by operations and supply chain leadership to reconcile system inventory with physical stock levels.
  • Possess general knowledge of warehouse inventory locations to assist with inquiries.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the returns area to minimize in-process returns.
  • Record and compile returns data for Quality analysis.
  • Assist in year-end physical inventory counts.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s Degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in inventory management, demonstrating strong proficiency.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, investigative skills, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to visually identify and differentiate products and materials.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency in ERP software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, MAS 500) and Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to operate a computer and calculator, and communicate verbally. Occasionally, the employee may need to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
